At Sound Precision Entertainment, we’re often asked for song suggestions to help you capture your most precious moments. One of the most popular song requests is for the father/daughter dance. While the song usually lasts less than 5 minutes and is only a flash in the time line of the reception, it is a special moment for brides and fathers, and we want to make sure your song choice is one you will remember for a lifetime. Check out our favorites:

1. Heartland — “I Loved Her First”

This quintessential father/daughter song will leave your attendees with tears in their eyes. Heartland released “I Loved Her First” in June 2006 as the first single title track from its debut studio album of the same name. The well-known song reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

2. Bob Carlisle — “Butterfly Kisses”

Bob Carlisle wrote this 1997 hit for his daughter’s 16th birthday, and it’s one of the sweetest father/daughter songs out there. It won a Grammy for Best Country Song, and it’s easy to see why. The song follows a little girl through a father’s eyes as she grows up over the years.

3. John Mayer — “Daughters”

John Mayer’s “Daughters” is a 2003 hit about the importance of women as both daughters and mothers. It won the 2005 Grammy Award for Song of the Year.

4. Steven Curtis Chapman — “Cinderella”

Steven Curtis Chapman wrote “Cinderella” after his daughters pushed him to stay up late one night in their Cinderella dresses. The enchanting 2007 song follows a girl from youth to her wedding day.

5. Kenny Rogers — “Handprints on the Wall”

Kenny Rogers croons into our hearts with 2003’s “Handprints on the Wall,” a heartfelt song that shows that our parents really didn’t mind the messes we made as children (in hindsight).

6. Tim McGraw — “My Little Girl”

“My Little Girl” is the perfect father/daughter send-off song. The 2006 ballad is a reminder that while a daughter may grow up and start her own life, her father will always be there for her.

7. Taylor Swift — “The Best Day”

Taylor Swift sings about the father/daughter relationship in this 2006 song, which is different from our other selections in that it is from the daughter’s perspective.

8. Darius Rucker — “It Won’t Be Like This For Long”

This Darius Rucker song is about how fast time flies once you have children. It was released in 2008 as the second single from his first country music album “Learn to Live.” Rucker previously served as lead vocalist for Hootie and the Blowfish.

9. Kenny Loggins — “Always, In All Ways”

From the album “More Songs from Pooh Corner,” Kenny Loggins’ 2000 hit “Always, In Always” is a sweet song about the lasting love of a father for his daughter.

10. Beyonce — “Daddy”

The last song on our list is from Queen Bey. Another song from the daughter’s point of view, this lesser-known Beyonce song, released in 2003, is perfect to honor your father during your dance.
