Choosing your wedding venue is an important decision. It sets the tone of your wedding (rustic? modern? sophisticated?) and often helps the rest of your vendors fall into place. At Sound Precision Entertainment, we’ve visited many venues, and we are familiar with the selection process. Here, you’ll find five of our top tips for choosing a Cleveland wedding venue:
- Start looking for a venue as soon as you are engaged.
Wedding venues book up quickly, and if you want to snag your date, you’ll need to start looking ASAP. Pro tip: You can save yourself a trip by calling the venue in advance to see whether your potential dates are open.
- Create a budget.
Most wedding experts suggest you spend less than 50 percent of your total wedding budget on your venue. Research vendors in your location to determine the average price, then narrow your list by choosing those that fit into your budget. And while many couples book their venue well 3. before other vendors, remember that if you overspend on your location, you’ll need to cut back in other areas.
- Establish your guest list.
You’ll need to know how many people you’re expecting so that you can choose a location to accommodate the crowd. Nothing’s worse than a too-small venue that packs your guests in like sardines.
- Search for photos of your venue.
You’ll get a good idea of what your wedding photos will look like if you search wedding photography blogs for existing photos. This can also help you envision what the venue will look like once it’s decorated (and maybe even land you a photographer!).
- Ask what is included in the price.
Some wedding venues will supply you with linens, glassware/flatware and even decor. When you don’t have to buy or rent these yourself, you save both time and money.
