How to Plan a Socially Distanced Wedding

Follow us on:

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has extended the stay-at-home order through May 29, which means gatherings are still limited to less than 10 people, and many businesses are still closed to the public.

While the state is beginning to slowly reopen, there are and will continue to be many restrictions.

But this hasn’t stopped couples from getting married. Those who still want to wed during this time have found creative and innovative ways to do so.

We at Sound Precision Entertainment are here to meet your wedding needs while adhering to all local, state and federal guidelines. For those getting married during the month of May and beyond, we offer these helpful tips:

  • Set up video conferencing appointments with your vendors. Platforms like Zoom or Skype allow for meetings with multiple attendees. Both you and your vendors can plan from the safety of your homes with this technology. During your appointment, don’t be shy about asking your vendors how they plan to adhere to social distancing and sanitation requirements on your big day. An ideal vendor should be able to walk you through its protocol without missing a beat.
  • Plan to adhere to social distancing rules. Under the stay-at-home order, you may not have a public or private gathering of more than 10 people outside a single household. It may be tough to slash your guest list, but you can ensure everyone can attend your wedding while still sticking to a limited in-person guest count by livestreaming the event. SPE, for example, is offering HD-quality livestreaming for Facebook or YouTube to ensure your friends and family don’t miss a moment.  You also want to ensure groups stay 6 feet apart, like this Lakewood couple, who married on their front porch. They utilized neighbors’ lawns to follow social distancing requirements and even received a visit from local police, who OK’d the gathering. Another safe way to include friends and family in your big day is to allow them to remain in their vehicles. One Utah couple got married in a local field and broadcast the wedding over the radio drive-in style. Guests remained in their vehicles and could listen to the ceremony through their radios.
  • Provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to attendees. To protect both yourself and your guests, provide PPE like masks, gloves and hand sanitizer. You can get creative by making masks in your bridal colors or creating personalized sanitizer bottles as favors!

We realize the social distancing landscape is ever-changing and are committed to working with you to make your wedding a success. And if you’re a 2021 bride, now is the time to book! With many 2020 couples rescheduling their dates, you’ll want to ensure that you plan ahead.

If you have any thoughts or questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at (216) 870-4513 or scott@spedj.com. Stay safe and healthy!

F.A.Q.

Do you offer Photo & Video?

Absolutely! While our DJs are pretty talented, we’ve learned it’s probably best if they stick to mixing music instead of trying to balance a camera while running the dance floor. 😅

For photo & video, we proudly partner with Cufflink Media — an incredible team that shares the same energy, professionalism, and attention to detail that we’re known for. Together, we help create a seamless wedding experience so your biggest moments not only feel unforgettable in the moment, but look incredible for years to come.

Do you work with other vendors?

Yes! While we have partnerships with Cufflink Media, we do not require you use them exclusively. You can always book us independently and we’ll ensure that all vendors are on the same page throughout the entire planning process and evening.

How do I secure my date?

We ask that when you are ready to book, you give us a signed contract and a $800 deposit. The initial deposit comes off the final balance. After that, you are locked in to your date. Payment plans are available, but we do not require the final balance until a week before your wedding.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. All prices you see include tax, set-up & tear-down, and travel to most places. When paying with credit card there is a 3.8% convenience fee. No fees when paying by check or cash.
