With more than 3,500 acres across Lake and Geauga counties, you’re sure to find the perfect wedding location within Holden Arboretum. The massive campus includes beautiful gardens, waterfalls, trails, lakes and meadows, making it perfect for both ceremonies, receptions and photos.
Albert Fairchild Holden founded Holden Arboretum as a memorial for his daughter, Elizabeth, who died in 1908 at the age of 12. In 2014, the arboretum merged with Cleveland Botanical Garden to create Holden Forests & Gardens, which is now the 12th largest public garden in the country. Its tree and plant collections feature more than 21,000 plants and plant groupings.
Holden Arboretum employs professional event planners who will help you choose the best space for your wedding needs. These include:
- Shelter House Picnic Pavilion: An outdoor space that is available year-round Tuesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Capacity is 50 guests.
- Butterfly Garden Ceremony Site: Available May-October, this ceremony site provides views of the manicured grounds, as well as nearby ponds and wildlife. Capacity is 80 guests.
- Lantern Court Estate Arcade: This Georgian Colonial home was built in the 1930s as a residence for Warren Corning, the first unpaid executive administrator of Holden Arboretum. Available year-round, the estate is nestled among 25 acres of gardens and woodlands – perfect for photos! Capacity is 60 guests. Please note Lantern Court is currently unavailable for 2022 bookings.
- Thayer Classroom: This space overlooks the Butterfly Garden Ceremony Site and can accommodate 60 guests.
You and your guests can also enjoy arboretum attractions such as tram tours, the Murch Canopy Walk and Kalberer Emergent Tower.
