Think Again!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_section et_pb_section_0  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et_section_regular et_block_section\" >\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_row et_pb_row_0  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et_block_row\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_column_4_4 et_pb_column et_pb_column_0  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et-last-child et_block_column\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_module et_d4_element et_pb_text et_pb_text_0  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span class='et-dropcap'>I<\/span>f you\u2019ve planned a Las Vegas wedding with an Elvis Presley impersonator, you may need to change your plans.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On May 19, Authentic Brands Group (ABG), which licenses Elvis Presley-related merchandise, issued a cease-and-desist letter to several Las Vegas chapels operators, according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reviewjournal.com\/entertainment\/entertainment-columns\/kats\/vegas-chapels-all-shook-up-by-elvis-likeness-crackdown-2584838\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the Las Vegas Review-Journal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The letter states that Sin City chapels must stop the unauthorized use of \u201cElvis Presley\u2019s name, likeness, voice image and other elements of Elvis Presley\u2019s persona in advertisements, merchandise and otherwise.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This includes \u201cElvis, \u201cElvis Presley\u201d \u201cand \u201cThe King of Rock and Roll\u201d as its protected trademarks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis could be very damaging to our industry,\u201d Melody Willis-Williams, president of Vegas Weddings and Viva Las Vegas Weddings, told the Last Vegas Review-Journal. \u201cMost of us are small businesses, and we\u2019re up against a superpower with a lot of money. It could kill us in lawyer fees to fight this.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Las Vegas\u2019 wedding industry generates $2 billion a year, and officials say Elvis-themed weddings represent a significant number of the ceremonies performed, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kmbc.com\/article\/elvis-leaving-the-building-las-vegas-chapels-ordered-to-stop-using-impersonators-in-themed-weddings\/40158020#\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Associated Press reports<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elvis weddings are expected to be especially popular this year due to Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian\u2019s Elvis wedding and the upcoming release of the \u201cElvis\u201d biopic on June 24.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\"It might destroy a portion of our wedding industry. A number of people might lose their livelihood,\" Clark County Clerk Lynn Goya told the AP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the letter, chapels needed to comply with the terms of the letter by the end of May.
