Cleveland’s beer industry dates back to the founding of the city itself – two breweries appear in the first city directory published in 1837-38, according to Case Western Reserve University’s Encyclopedia of Cleveland History.

Now, Cleveland is home to many more breweries that are scattered across the city proper and its surrounding suburbs. Whether you’re a beer snob, historian or just someone who loves to explore cool Cleveland locations, we’ve picked five breweries from around town that are perfect locations for engagement photo pictures.

Please check with your desired location prior to any professional photo-taking.

This Ohio City staple offers both an indoor brewpub and outdoor beer garden. The 19th century red brick buildings are charming, creating the perfect romantic backdrop for a range of engagement poses. A recent renovation has kept GLBC’s historic feel (the bar is made up of tiger mahogany and is said to be the oldest in Cleveland) while adding some modernizations, including an updated entrance complete with a new lounge, coat check and communal drinking rails; new light fixtures and décor; and open outdoor seating with traditional-style beer garden tables.

Calling all bookworms! This quaint brewery is packed with tomes that line shelves and bookcases throughout the cozy space. The philosophy of this taphouse is simple – bring a book, take a book! Capture some fantastic shots of you and your sweetheart cuddling up with a book (or several) in this historic building, which features the original brick, wallpaper and tin of its predecessor, the Jacob Baehr Brewery.

The Thirsty Dog brewery and pub in the east bank of the Flats is a large taproom with community bench-style seating. While the interior is great for sitting and sipping, the real highlight here is the 2,500-square-foot-patio that overlooks the Cuyahoga River and venues surrounding the bank, providing a fantastic backdrop for your photos. Bonus: This brewery is dog-friendly so feel free to bring your four-legged friends!

(440) 484-4045
info@southerntierbrewing.com
Southern Tier Brewing Company is a state-of-the-art brewery and taproom located in downtown Cleveland.
